Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (Dubai RTA) has reminded drivers to adhere to school bus stop-arm rules, emphasising the need for road safety in the city.
This becomes especially important as schools in the UAE have resumed on-site learning, and school bus operations have also restarted.
Dubai RTA’s School Bus Stop Arm Rules
In a social media post, the RTA said motorists must comply with stop-arm regulations when a school bus is picking up or dropping off students.

Vehicles must remain stopped until all students have crossed and reached a safe zone, the stop arm is withdrawn and flashing lights are switched off.
On undivided roads (roads with no median or barrier), vehicles headed in both directions must stop. On divided roads, vehicles following the school bus must stop at least 5 metres behind the school bus.
Any violation of stop-arm regulations will be penalised with a fine, reminding residents of the need for safety in Dubai’s transportation systems.
