HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai recently inspected the Al Mamzar Beaches Development Project. This project is among the Dubai Municipality’s flagship strategic projects.
With an investment of AED 500 million, the project is set to become a vibrant family-friendly beach destination in Dubai. It is estimated to accommodate 7 million visitors per year and to span 4 million square feet.
In a post on social media, HH Sheikh Mohammed said, “As part of our programme to make Dubai the best city to live in the world by 2040, we adopted the Dubai plan to develop beaches worth 3 billion dirhams with the aim of increasing Dubai’s beaches’ capacity for tourists and visitors by 170 per cent.”
Dubai Beaches Development Project
The Al Mamzar Beaches Development Project forms part of an AED 3 billion portfolio of premium beachfront developments in key locations, including Al Mamzar Corniche and Lagoon, Jumeirah 1, and planned projects in Umm Suqeim 1 and 2, Jumeirah 2, Jumeirah 3 and Jebel Ali Beach through 2030.
This is in line with the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033, which focuses on enhanced public open spaces, healthy lifestyles, and improved community wellbeing. It also supports Dubai’s Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap 2030, which aims to transform the emirate into one of the world’s most beautiful and sustainable coastal cities.
Enhanced Facilities Under the Project
As per the Dubai Media Office, Al Mamzar Beaches will be equipped with 35 service and leisure facilities, constructed as per international standards and accessible to people of determination.
Standout amenities include the world’s first 24/7 women-only beach, which will offer night swimming, a first-of-its-kind floating walkway at Al Mamzar Lagoon, and a waterfront restaurant. Over 5.5 kilometres of walking, running and cycling tracks will connect the lagoon, corniche and Al Mamzar Beach Park, to integrate park and beach experiences for residents and visitors.
Al Mamzar Lagoon Beach will have a 300-metre night swimming beach, children’s play areas, gyms, water sports zones, jet ski docks and shaded beachfront spaces. Meanwhile, Al Mamzar Corniche will also have sports facilities, art walkways and seasonal event spaces.
Dubai Municipality is also working on the digital infrastructure of beaches, utilising artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies for smart city operations and enhanced public safety.
