The UAE tightens entry and visa rules as part of precautionary measures linked to Ebola outbreaks in parts of Africa. The regulations, which took effect on June 6, 2026, apply to travellers who have recently been in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, or South Sudan.
Emirates and flydubai have advised passengers to check the latest travel requirements before departure, as several countries have introduced restrictions and enhanced health screening measures.
Who Is Affected?
The UAE will deny entry to travellers who have been in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, or South Sudan within the previous 21 days, including those arriving via connecting or indirect flights.

Those who have spent more than 21 consecutive days outside these countries before arriving in the UAE are exempt from the restriction.
Visa Suspensions and Transit Rules
All new visas for nationals of the three countries have been suspended until further notice, including visit visas.
The restrictions also apply to travellers who have recently visited the affected countries, regardless of nationality. Passengers transiting through the UAE must continue to meet the entry requirements of their final destination.
Despite the tighter passenger measures, cargo operations and transit flights will continue.
The Ministry of Health and Prevention has confirmed that no Ebola cases have been reported in the UAE. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and advise travellers to check official government and airline updates before travelling.
