Emirates Comprehensive Travel Cover Sets New Standard for Travel Protection

Emirates Comprehensive Travel Cover is now available to travellers, making Emirates the first airline in the world to offer a travel insurance product that combines expanded medical protection with airline-managed disruption support.

Launched in partnership with Travel Guard, the new cover is designed to give passengers greater peace of mind before and during their journeys. In addition to traditional travel insurance benefits, the product includes conflict-related medical expense protection, complimentary trip extensions, and support during travel disruptions.

The new offering comes as global travel demand continues to grow, with travellers increasingly looking for greater flexibility and protection when planning international trips.

Expanded Protection Beyond Traditional Travel Insurance

The Emirates Comprehensive Travel Cover includes a range of benefits already familiar to travellers, such as trip cancellation protection, compensation for delayed or lost baggage, and unlimited emergency medical and evacuation cover worldwide.

A key addition is conflict-related protection, which provides reimbursement of up to US$25,000 for medical expenses linked to conflict-related incidents. Travellers may also receive a complimentary extension of up to 30 days if their journey is disrupted. Importantly, the cover remains valid regardless of government travel advice, offering broader protection than many standard travel insurance products.

The insurance can be purchased when booking a flight through Emirates or added later through the airline’s Manage Booking platform.

Additional Airline Support During Disruptions

Beyond insurance coverage, Emirates is also introducing airline-managed support services during certain travel disruptions. This includes hotel accommodation arranged by the airline and assistance for passengers who need to extend their stay due to events such as airspace closures.

If Emirates flights are unavailable or a journey involves connecting flights with other carriers, the airline may rebook affected customers to their final destination at no extra cost, including in cases of conflict-related cancellations.

Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airlines, said the new product was developed in response to customer feedback and addresses a gap in the travel insurance market. Available in the UAE and several international markets, the cover aims to provide travellers with greater confidence and reassurance when planning their journeys.
