Dubai’s giant UAE flag has secured a Guinness World Record after a massive flag-shaped banner measuring nearly 430 square metres was lifted from a vehicle-mounted pole in Dubai. The achievement was led by Emiratis Ahmed Hassan Al Shehhi and Yahya Saeed Lootah as a tribute to the UAE and its leadership.
Raised on April 23, 2026, the giant banner soared above Dubai’s desert landscape and quickly attracted attention on social media. Guinness World Records later confirmed it as the largest banner ever lifted from a pole attached to a vehicle, with the official certificate presented on June 5.
The project was inspired by the “Proud of UAE” campaign launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, encouraging people across the country to display the UAE flag as a symbol of unity and resilience.
From Concept to Record-Breaking Display
The idea began as a conversation between friends who wanted to create a unique tribute to the nation. The team used an International MXT truck fitted with a specially engineered flagpole to support the enormous banner.
Skydive Dubai’s runway was selected for the attempt due to its open space and suitable conditions. While the installation was completed within six days, the project required significant planning, engineering, and logistical coordination.
Al Shehhi said the support and inspiration of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum played an important role in helping bring the project to life.
A Milestone for an Emirati Record Holder
The achievement marks Al Shehhi’s ninth Guinness World Record. Known as the UAE’s first jet suit pilot, he has earned recognition through a series of accomplishments in skydiving, wingsuit flying, and aerial sports.
Al Shehhi dedicated the record to the UAE’s leadership and people, describing it as a celebration of national pride. He also hopes the achievement will encourage young Emiratis to pursue ambitious goals and turn bold ideas into reality.
For many, the record-breaking flag is more than a world record. It is a powerful symbol of the pride, ambition, and unity that continue to shape the UAE.
