Dubai RTA Develops Rapid Intervention Vehicle for Rain Emergencies

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (Dubai RTA) has developed a new rapid intervention vehicle to enhance preparedness for emergencies and heavy rain.

In a social media post, the Dubai Media Office mentioned that the vehicle features advanced equipment. This includes four pumps with a combined capacity of approximately 60,000 litres per minute, which is equivalent to 10 conventional pumps or 25 water suction tankers. It can pump water at approximately 1,000 litres per second.

A backup generator ensures uninterrupted operation, a rescue boat feature aids in evacuations, and a thermal drone facilitates field monitoring and on-site assessment. It can also operate in a water depth of up to 1.8 metres.

What are the Benefits of the New Vehicle?

The new rapid intervention vehicle by the RTA strengthens the authority’s response to rain-related emergencies in Dubai, as well as flooding. The new vehicle will ensure smooth traffic flow, improve response efficiency and protect residents.

It’s a smart solution for Dubai’s emergency management systems and is expected to reduce response time for rain emergencies in the city by more than 75 per cent.

As part of its efforts to develop an integrated, smart mobility system in Dubai, the RTA has also launched a smart bus station offering seamless, contactless digital services integrated with the Dubai Nol Card and the S’hail app.

The authority has also launched soft mobility parking facilities to support the use of bicycles and e-scooters and enhance first- and last-mile connectivity.

These initiatives align with Dubai’s commitment to leveraging advanced technologies to improve residents’ quality of life.
