Dubai RTA AI-powered dashboards are helping make the city’s bus network more efficient through real-time monitoring, artificial intelligence, and advanced data analytics.
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a suite of AI-powered dashboards at its Bus Operations Control Centre to improve the management of public bus services. Developed by the Public Transport Agency in collaboration with the Artificial Intelligence Centre, the system is built on the RTA’s Dataiku platform and is now fully integrated into daily operations.
The dashboards combine several smart tools, including early-departure monitoring, AI-based trip cancellation predictions, route optimisation, and rapid-response planning during metro service disruptions. By bringing operational data into a single platform, the system enables faster and more informed decision-making.
Improving Service Reliability
The new technology allows operators to track bus services in real time and respond quickly to potential issues before they affect passengers. This proactive approach has helped improve overall service reliability across the network.
According to the RTA, the system has reduced early bus departures by more than 68 per cent. Automated alerts also support faster responses to changing conditions, while additional buses can be deployed more efficiently during metro disruptions to help maintain service continuity.
Supporting Dubai’s Smart Mobility Goals
Beyond operational improvements, the dashboards are contributing to Dubai’s sustainability efforts. Better parking management and reduced engine idling have helped cut more than 13,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.
The introduction of AI-powered dashboards marks another step in Dubai’s smart mobility journey. By embedding artificial intelligence into daily operations, the RTA is enhancing public transport efficiency, improving the passenger experience, and supporting the city’s vision of becoming a global leader in smart and sustainable transport solutions.
