Dubai International Holy Quran Award Returns for 29th Edition with AED12 Million in Prizes

The Dubai International Holy Quran Award is returning for its 29th edition after being launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The award continues its mission of celebrating exceptional Quran reciters from around the world, with this year’s edition offering more than AED12 million in prize money and introducing new opportunities for international participation.

Held under the theme “In Search of the Most Beautiful Quran Recitation in the World,” the competition aims to encourage Quran memorisation, Tajweed, and beautiful recitation while recognising those who have made outstanding contributions to serving the Holy Quran. Registration is open from 7 July to 15 August 2026.

New competition format and public voting

The 29th edition includes three main categories: the Male Category (Over 16 years old), the Male and Female Category (Under 16 years old), and the Global Quranic Personality Award. Participants can apply directly through the award’s website or be nominated through their home country or an accredited Islamic centre.

The competition begins with a preliminary judging stage based on a three-minute recitation video. Under-16 contestants will then take part in live virtual evaluations between 1 and 14 September 2026. Public voting to choose the most beautiful Quran recitation will take place from 8 to 16 February 2027, with the award ceremony scheduled for the second week of Ramadan.

Prize money exceeds AED12 million

The total prize pool exceeds AED12 million, with first-place winners in both competition categories receiving US$1 million each. The recipient of the Global Quranic Personality Award will also receive US$1 million, while second and third-place winners in each category will be awarded US$100,000 and US$50,000, respectively.

A new feature this year will see a group of outstanding contestants invited to Dubai during Ramadan to lead Taraweeh prayers at major mosques across the emirate before the public votes for the world’s most beautiful Quran recitation.

Established in 1997, the Dubai International Holy Quran Award has welcomed thousands of participants from 123 countries and continues to strengthen Dubai’s position as a global centre for promoting Quranic excellence and celebrating outstanding reciters.
