Dubai Flights Returning as Airspace Reopens

Dubai flights returning mark the start of a gradual increase in operations following the reopening of UAE airspace.

Flight activity in Dubai is beginning to pick up again following the reopening of UAE airspace, with operations gradually expanding across the city’s two main hubs.

Dubai Airports has confirmed that airlines are restoring schedules at Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). More daily flights are being added in phases, as airlines work towards returning to regular operations.

A gradual return to schedules

The increase in flights is not happening all at once. While restrictions within the UAE have been lifted, flight operations remain linked to airspace conditions across the wider region. This means some routes may still be adjusted, and full schedule restoration will depend on how quickly regional corridors stabilise.

Airlines such as Emirates and flydubai have already started increasing services, with more frequencies expected to return over the coming days.

What happened during the disruption

In the weeks leading up to the reopening, operations at Dubai’s airports continued at a reduced pace. Despite the limitations, both passenger and cargo movement were maintained.

Between late February and the end of April, Dubai Airports handled around six million passengers and more than 32,000 flights. This period reflected the broader slowdown across regional aviation, as airspace restrictions affected routing and scheduling.

The impact was also visible in quarterly figures. Passenger traffic at DXB reached 18.6 million in the first quarter of 2026, with March recording a sharper decline compared to earlier months. Cargo volumes and aircraft movements also declined during this time.

What travellers can expect now

With airspace now reopened, flight options are steadily increasing, but schedules may continue to shift slightly as airlines rebuild capacity.

Travellers flying in the near term are likely to see more availability compared to recent weeks, alongside occasional timing adjustments as operations settle.

For most passengers, the main change is the return of more consistent connectivity through Dubai, even if it takes a little time before everything is fully back to previous levels.
