Dubai’s First Accredited Bachelor of Music Opens Doors for Aspiring Artists

The Bachelor of Music degree is giving aspiring musicians in Dubai a new route into the creative industries, with SAE University College Dubai launching the city’s first accredited degree of its kind. The three-year, full-time programme begins in September 2026, combining practical music training with technology, performance and the business skills needed to build a career in today’s industry.

The launch comes as the UAE continues to invest in its creative economy. Under the UAE National Strategy for Cultural and Creative Industries, the country aims for the sector to contribute 5% of national GDP by 2031.

What Will Students Study?

The programme is designed for students interested in contemporary and electronic music, songwriting and live performance. Alongside creative development, the curriculum covers areas such as stagecraft, creative musicianship, studio production and audio engineering.

Students will also explore the business side of the industry, including artist management, creative marketing, music entrepreneurship, contracts and copyright law. This combination is intended to give graduates a broader understanding of what it takes to work professionally in music, beyond performing or producing alone.

AI and Technology Take Centre Stage

Technology is another important part of the new degree. Students will work with AI-focused tools used in contemporary music production and audio engineering, while also examining issues surrounding digital property rights.

The course combines classroom learning with practical experience in professional-standard studios. Students will work on real-world briefs and develop their skills through industry projects, culminating in a major production portfolio in their final year.

Built With the Music Industry in Mind

The degree has been developed with input from industry partners including Melody House, Muzikminds and Hungarian-American songwriter and producer Miklos Malek.

This industry connection is intended to help students build practical skills and professional confidence while studying. Graduates can go on to explore careers in music production, songwriting, composition, artist development, audio engineering, live performance, music supervision, entertainment and content creation.

September 2026 Applications Are Open

Applications are currently open for the September 2026 intake, with additional intakes planned for February 2027 and May 2027.

SAE University College Dubai is also offering scholarships of up to AED 50,000 to eligible local and international students. Prospective applicants can check the institution’s admission requirements and scholarship information when applying.

For students looking to turn a passion for music into a professional career, the new programme offers the opportunity to study music in Dubai while gaining experience across the creative, technical and commercial sides of the industry.
