H.H. Sheikha Latifa Launches Dubai Museum of Digital Art in DIFC

The Dubai Museum of Digital Art has officially been launched in DIFC’s Zabeel District, marking a major new addition to Dubai’s growing cultural and creative landscape.

Announced by H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the museum will become the region’s first institution dedicated entirely to digital art and emerging technologies.

The project is being developed within the DIFC Zabeel District expansion and is expected to play an important role in strengthening Dubai’s museum sector while supporting the city’s wider ambitions for the creative economy.

Museum to Combine Art, Technology and Immersive Experiences

Spanning five floors, the Dubai Museum of Digital Art, also known as MODA, will bring together art, technology and innovation through immersive exhibitions, interactive installations, educational programmes and research initiatives.

The museum has been designed to create a future-focused cultural space where artists, researchers and emerging creative talent can experiment, collaborate and develop new ideas using advanced digital technologies.

Visitors can expect a mix of permanent and temporary exhibitions alongside interactive experiences designed to make digital art more accessible and engaging for audiences of different ages.

The project will also include dedicated educational spaces aimed at helping young creatives and future generations build skills connected to digital art and cultural innovation.

According to Dubai officials, the museum will go beyond the traditional concept of art spaces by introducing new digital experiences, including a “digital twin” model that would allow global audiences to interact with the museum remotely.

DIFC and Dubai Culture to Lead the Project

Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) will oversee the development of the museum, while Dubai Culture will supervise its operations and long-term cultural direction.

Officials say the initiative aligns closely with Dubai’s broader vision to strengthen the city’s creative economy, support emerging talent and position Dubai as a global centre for culture, innovation and digital creativity.

Speaking during the launch, H.H. Sheikha Latifa said the museum reflects Dubai’s long-term approach to culture as a driver of innovation, knowledge and human connection. She also described the project as an important step in expanding artistic expression in an increasingly digital world.

The announcement coincides with the 20th edition of Art Dubai, one of the region’s leading art events, which has played a major role in supporting artists, galleries and creative communities over the past two decades.

Part of DIFC’s Long-Term Arts Strategy

The Dubai Museum of Digital Art will form a key part of DIFC’s new long-term arts strategy, which aims to shape the district’s cultural development over the next 20 years.

The strategy seeks to create a more connected cultural ecosystem within DIFC by bringing together major initiatives such as Sculpture Park, Art Nights and Satellite Gallery under a year-round cultural programme.

Officials say this integrated approach is intended to strengthen DIFC’s identity as both a financial and cultural destination where business, lifestyle and creativity intersect.

The museum itself has been designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, the international architecture firm known for major global projects.

Supporting Dubai’s Creative Economy Goals

The project also supports the goals of Dubai’s Economic Agenda D33 and the Dubai Creative Economy Strategy, both of which aim to expand the contribution of cultural and creative industries to the emirate’s economy.

Dubai Culture Director-General Hala Badri said the museum reflects Dubai’s efforts to keep pace with global shifts in the cultural sector by investing in projects that combine creativity with advanced technology.

Officials believe the museum will strengthen Dubai’s position as a destination for cultural tourism, creative investment and innovation once it opens to the public.

The opening date for the Dubai Museum of Digital Art has not yet been announced.
