The Etihad Rail Dubai Station could soon offer a direct connection to the Dubai Metro, making it easier for passengers to move between the UAE’s national rail network and Dubai’s public transport system. The station is scheduled to open on September 30 and will be located near Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station.
According to Etihad Rail Mobility, creating smooth connections before and after the train journey is a key part of its passenger experience strategy. The company is exploring ways to integrate the station with existing transport networks, including the Metro, buses and taxis.
Could the station connect to the Dubai Metro?
The new Etihad Rail station will be just four minutes away from the Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station. While a direct Metro link has not been officially confirmed, Etihad Rail says the proximity of the two stations makes integration a strong possibility.
The passenger charter on the Etihad Rail website also notes that Metro and bus services will connect with train stations, supporting a more seamless travel experience.
The goal is to ensure passengers can easily continue their journeys after arriving by train, whether through public transport, taxis, ride-hailing services or private vehicles.
Etihad Rail’s approach to last-mile connectivity
Etihad Rail has already implemented similar transport solutions at its stations in Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. At the Mohamed Bin Zayed City Station in Abu Dhabi, passengers can use a dedicated shuttle bus service connecting the station to key destinations, including ADNOC Headquarters, ADNEC Centre, and Reem Mall.
The station is also integrated with Abu Dhabi’s public bus and taxi network, helping travellers move easily between different transport modes.
A similar model is expected in Dubai, with public transport links designed to make the transition between train, Metro and road transport as smooth as possible.
If a Metro connection is introduced, the Etihad Rail Dubai Station could become an important transport hub, further strengthening connectivity across Dubai and the wider UAE.
