Counting Down to Cooler Days? Here’s When Dubai Weather Is Expected to Change

If you’re eagerly waiting for Dubai weather to become more comfortable, you’re not alone. With temperatures continuing to climb close to 50°C in some parts of the UAE, many residents are wondering how much longer the summer heat will last. While the hottest days of the year are still ahead, there is a timeline for when conditions are expected to gradually become more pleasant. The change won’t happen overnight, but cooler evenings and milder days are on the horizon as the seasons begin to shift.

According to astronomy experts, the UAE is currently in the first half of its summer season, which continues until 10 August. During this period, daytime temperatures typically range between 41°C and 43°C, although heatwaves can push temperatures several degrees higher for consecutive days. Overnight temperatures also remain warm, generally staying between 27°C and 31°C. Dry conditions continue across much of the country, accompanied by the seasonal Al Barih north-westerly winds.

The first signs of relief begin in late September

From around 11 August, the second half of summer begins. While daytime temperatures remain high, humidity levels increase noticeably, particularly in coastal areas. The seasonal Al Koos winds bring additional moisture into the air, making conditions feel more humid even if temperatures don’t change significantly.

This combination of heat and humidity also creates the conditions for cloud formation over the Hajar Mountains, often leading to the late-summer thunderstorms known locally as Al Rawaih.

The first meaningful change arrives with the autumnal equinox on 23 September. From this point, daytime temperatures generally begin to fall below 40°C, while overnight temperatures gradually drop below 25°C. Although the heat doesn’t disappear immediately, this marks the beginning of the transition into the cooler months.

When outdoor plans become enjoyable again

For many residents, the real turning point comes in mid-October. This is when overnight temperatures typically fall below 20°C, bringing noticeably cooler evenings that make outdoor walks, café visits, and dining outside far more comfortable.

By mid-November, daytime temperatures usually drop below 30°C, marking the start of the UAE’s most enjoyable season, which lasts through mid-March. This period is ideal for beach days, desert trips, outdoor markets, and weekend events across Dubai. It also coincides with the country’s main rainy season, which generally runs from early November until the end of March.

As temperatures continue to ease through autumn, early morning fog and dew become more common, particularly between mid-September and mid-November. While there are still several weeks of summer to get through, the gradual return of cooler weather is now firmly on the calendar, giving residents something to look forward to as Dubai’s outdoor season approaches.
