The air-conditioned rest areas for delivery riders have now been completed at 40 locations across Dubai, as part of the Roads and Transport Authority’s (RTA) efforts to improve road safety and support the growing delivery sector.
The new facilities provide delivery riders with a safe and comfortable place to rest while waiting for orders, particularly during the hotter months of the year. The initiative also forms part of Dubai’s broader efforts to improve the quality of life and strengthen road safety standards across the emirate.
According to the RTA, Dubai is currently home to 2,535 companies offering motorcycle delivery services, operating a combined fleet of around 46,600 delivery bikes. As the sector continues to grow, the need for dedicated rider facilities has become increasingly important.
New Rest Areas Introduced Across Key Locations
The air-conditioned rest areas have been strategically placed in areas with high demand for delivery services. Locations were selected based on operational data and in coordination with delivery companies.
The facilities can accommodate up to 10 riders at a time, depending on the site, and include air-conditioned seating areas as well as dedicated motorcycle parking spaces nearby. The structures have also been designed to minimise sun exposure while maintaining visibility for road users.

The rest areas are located in several busy communities and commercial districts, including Business Bay, Dubai Marina, Al Barsha, Al Karama, Al Satwa, Mirdif, Al Jaddaf, Arabian Ranches, International City, The Greens, Al Garhoud and Dubai Motor City, among others.
Supporting Safety and Service Standards
RTA said the project supports Dubai’s Traffic Safety Strategy, which aims to achieve zero traffic fatalities and further strengthen safety for all road users.
The authority has also introduced a broader framework to improve standards across the delivery sector. This includes professional certifications for riders and the Delivery Service Excellence Award, which recognises top-performing companies, riders and industry partners.
The award encourages compliance with safety regulations, professional driving practices and customer service standards. For the upcoming edition, RTA has expanded the Outstanding Rider category to recognise 200 riders, reflecting the continued growth of the sector.
With delivery services playing an increasingly important role in daily life, the new rest areas provide a practical solution that benefits both riders and the wider community.
