Emirati Women’s Day 2026 is set to make history, with the annual occasion expanding into a month-long celebration for the very first time. Running from August 28 to September 28, 2026, the extended programme was announced by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the Mother of the Nation, marking a new chapter in the UAE’s ongoing recognition of women’s achievements and contributions.
Traditionally observed on August 28, Emirati Women’s Day commemorates the founding of the General Women’s Union (GWU) in 1975. This year, however, the celebration will extend far beyond a single day, creating a national season dedicated to appreciation, empowerment, and community participation.
Held under the theme “We Emerge Stronger and Better,” the month reflects the UAE’s continued focus on resilience, progress, and creating opportunities for women across every stage of society.
A month dedicated to recognising and supporting women
Throughout the month, government entities, private organisations, educational institutions, and community groups are expected to organise a wide range of activities celebrating the achievements of Emirati women. These include panel discussions, networking events, cultural workshops, and community initiatives designed to encourage learning, collaboration, and meaningful conversations.
The extended celebration will also shine a spotlight on women who have made an impact across diverse fields, including government, business, entrepreneurship, science, space exploration, and the arts.
