Etihad Rail Dubai Station Opens September 30: Here’s Everything We Know So Far

The Etihad Rail Dubai Station will officially open on September 30, 2026, bringing Dubai into the UAE’s national passenger rail network. The opening follows the launch of passenger services between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah earlier this year, marking the next stage in the country’s plans to connect all emirates by rail.

As Dubai station prepares to welcome passengers, several details have already been announced, including where the station is located, how long journeys will take, ticket prices, luggage rules, pet policies and what travellers can expect onboard.

Here is everything we know so far about Etihad Rail’s passenger service.

Dubai station location, routes and onboard experience

The new Dubai station is located in Jumeirah Golf Estates, along Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311), giving passengers easy access by car. The station will also be connected with Dubai’s wider public transport network through taxis, feeder buses and links to the Dubai Metro.

One of the key features of the station is its connection to the nearby Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station. A pedestrian bridge is being developed to link both stations, making it easier for passengers to switch between the Metro and Etihad Rail.

Passenger service first began on June 30, 2026, with trains operating between Mohammed Bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. The Dubai station will open alongside Al Dhaid Station in Sharjah on September 30.

The network will continue expanding, with stations in the Al Dhafra region expected to open later in 2026 and the main Sharjah Station near University City planned for 2027.

Once fully operational, Etihad Rail will make travelling across the UAE much faster. The journey between Dubai and Abu Dhabi will take around 57 minutes, while the journey between Dubai and Fujairah will take approximately 50 minutes.

Passengers can choose between First Class, Premium Class and Comfort Class. The trains will include amenities such as Wi-Fi, charging points, onboard entertainment and dining options, with each train accommodating around 400 passengers.

Tickets, baggage, pets and passenger rules

Ticket prices for the current Abu Dhabi-Fujairah service start at AED 55 for Comfort Class and AED 120 for Premium Class during the introductory period. Standard fares will apply after the launch offer ends.

Travellers can also bring luggage onboard, with each passenger allowed two pieces of baggage free of charge. Additional baggage will be subject to Etihad Rail’s guidelines.

Pet owners will also be able to travel with certain animals. Dogs and falcons are permitted when carried in approved containers, while certified assistance dogs can travel with prior approval.

Etihad Rail has also introduced passenger rules to ensure a smooth experience for everyone. Travellers must have valid tickets and follow safety instructions throughout their journey. Offences such as travelling without a ticket, smoking or vaping onboard, damaging property, littering or misusing facilities can result in fines.

Beyond the current passenger network, Etihad Rail is also looking ahead. Plans include a high-speed rail link between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, as well as the Hafeet Rail project, which will connect the UAE with Oman through Sohar. With Dubai joining the network on September 30, Etihad Rail is set to become a new travel option for residents and visitors, offering a convenient way to explore the UAE beyond the road.
