Map Your Dubai is a new initiative launched by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) and Google to help residents and visitors discover the city’s homegrown restaurants and cafes. The campaign shines a spotlight on local dining businesses through community-created recommendations, making it easier to explore some of Dubai’s lesser-known food spots.
As Dubai’s dining scene continues to grow, the initiative aims to give independent eateries greater visibility while encouraging people to support local businesses. It also forms part of DET’s wider From Dubai, For Dubai movement, which celebrates the people and businesses that contribute to everyday life in the city.
Local Experts Create Curated Food Guides
At the heart of the campaign are Google’s Local Guides, a global community of volunteers who contribute reviews, photos, and information to Google Maps. For Map Your Dubai, experienced Local Guides have created curated lists featuring their favourite restaurants and cafes across different categories and neighbourhoods.

The initiative was launched at a special event held at the Etihad Museum, bringing together food entrepreneurs, content creators, and industry leaders. By using local recommendations, the campaign offers a more authentic way for people to discover Dubai’s diverse food scene.
How the Campaign Works
The public can now access 11 curated food lists through the official Map Your Dubai platform. Each list connects directly to Google Maps, allowing users to browse recommendations, save locations, and plan visits.
Voting for favourite lists will run from June 22 to July 6, 2026, with winning Local Guides being recognised through official campaign channels.
Beyond helping people find new places to eat, the initiative supports Dubai’s ambition to strengthen its reputation as a global gastronomy destination. By promoting homegrown restaurants and encouraging community participation, Map Your Dubai helps connect diners with local businesses while showcasing the city’s rich and diverse food culture.
