The UAE is moving towards a more connected healthcare system for Emiratis following new directives announced by HH President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Under the new system, Emiratis will be able to access comprehensive medical insurance coverage anywhere across the UAE, regardless of which emirate they are from or where they are receiving treatment.
The move is intended to create a more unified healthcare experience across the country while improving access to medical services between different healthcare providers and emirates.

At the moment, healthcare systems and insurance coverage can vary depending on the emirate and provider involved. In some cases, patients receiving treatment outside their home emirate may experience different approval systems, healthcare procedures or coverage requirements.
The new approach is expected to make treatment and healthcare access more consistent for Emirati patients across the UAE while helping simplify insurance processes and access to care.
According to reports, the system is also expected to support stronger coordination between healthcare authorities, hospitals and insurance providers across different emirates.
The announcement forms part of wider efforts across the UAE to continue improving healthcare services through more connected digital systems and medical networks. Over the past several years, healthcare providers across the country have increasingly shifted towards electronic records, digital appointments and integrated healthcare platforms.
The new directives are also expected to support Emiratis who regularly travel between emirates for specialist treatment, medical appointments or ongoing care.
While a full implementation timeline has not yet been announced, the system is expected to support easier access to healthcare services for Emiratis across all emirates. More information is expected to be released as the rollout of the system continues to develop.
