The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has just introduced new self-driving taxis in Umm Suqeim and Jumeirah, in partnership with Apollo Go and WeRide.
As per a post by the Dubai Media Office, the taxis are available through the Uber and Apollo Go apps.
What Are The Dubai RTA’s Plans?
The Dubai Media Office stated that the initial phase of this commercial launch will feature the deployment of 100 autonomous taxis in Dubai.
Gradually, the RTA intends to expand the fleet in years to come, keeping in mind rising demand for smart mobility, sustainability, and the city’s plans to shift towards more advanced transportation technology.

What Do Self-Driving Taxis Mean for Dubai?
A shift towards self-driving vehicles will not only attract international autonomous driving companies to the emirate but also add another layer of advanced infrastructure to the city, reinforcing its future-forward vision.
If the smart system of self-driving taxis proves feasible for everyday commuters, it will help achieve the goals of the Dubai Self-Driving Transport Strategy.
