Sheikh Zayed Farm Street: RTA renames Al Faghi Street in Al Khawaneej

Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the renaming of Al Faghi Street in Al Khawaneej to Sheikh Zayed Farm Street, in collaboration with the Dubai Road Naming Committee.

The decision highlights the historical and national importance of Sheikh Zayed Farm in Al Khawaneej, a site that was recently declared by UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as the country’s third union site.

Sheikh Zayed Farm now joins Union House and Arqoob Al Sedira as locations closely linked to the story of the UAE’s formation.

A site tied to UAE history

Sheikh Zayed Farm in Al Khawaneej holds special significance in the country’s history. The site was associated with meetings and discussions between the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum during the early stages of the UAE’s union.

By renaming the road, Dubai authorities aim to preserve the legacy of the location while strengthening awareness of the country’s historical landmarks among residents and visitors.

New road name to appear across Dubai

According to the RTA, the new Sheikh Zayed Farm Street name will gradually appear across directional signs, digital maps, and navigation systems as updates are rolled out.

Dubai regularly undertakes road naming projects to reflect locations of cultural, historical, and national importance across the emirate. The latest change also aligns with wider efforts to document and celebrate sites connected to the UAE’s founding story.
