Dubai and Abu Dhabi Team Up to Create a Smarter Parking Experience

A smarter parking experience could be on the way for drivers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, as the two emirates’ leading public parking operators have agreed to work together on digital services and smart parking technology.

Q Mobility, which operates Abu Dhabi’s Mawaqif public parking system, and Parkin Company PJSC, Dubai’s largest provider of public parking facilities and services, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on August 10. The partnership will explore ways to connect parking systems, share expertise and use technology to make parking management more efficient.

What the new partnership means

The agreement creates a framework for Q Mobility and Parkin to work together on future parking initiatives. Both companies will develop a roadmap for joint projects and look at opportunities to test new parking technologies.

One of the main areas being explored is digital integration. The companies will assess how their systems and platforms could work together, potentially giving residents and visitors a more seamless way to access parking services and pay parking fees through integrated digital channels.

For now, the MoU does not introduce a new payment system or change the way motorists park in either emirate. Instead, it sets out plans to explore future improvements.

AI could play a bigger role in parking

Technology will be central to the collaboration, with both operators looking at the use of artificial intelligence, data analytics and other digital solutions.

These tools could help parking operators better understand demand, manage occupancy and make more efficient use of existing infrastructure. The partnership will also explore ways to improve operational efficiency and service quality.

Q Mobility and Parkin will additionally assess opportunities to exchange data and technical expertise, subject to UAE laws, regulations and data-protection requirements.

Making everyday journeys more seamless

The collaboration comes as Dubai and Abu Dhabi continue to invest in smarter urban mobility. Parking is an important part of that wider network, particularly for residents and visitors who regularly drive between the two emirates.

Parkin manages approximately 229,000 paid parking spaces across Dubai and recorded 141 million parking transactions in 2025. Q Mobility manages Mawaqif in Abu Dhabi, alongside the Darb road toll system.

The two companies will also explore new approaches to parking management, infrastructure use and the long-term sustainability of parking facilities.

While there are no immediate changes for motorists, the partnership could eventually help create a more connected parking experience across Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with digital services and data playing a bigger role in how people find, access and pay for parking.
