Mawaheb Dubai is much more than a place to paint or sculpt. Tucked away in Al Quoz, this inspiring creative hub has spent the past 16 years helping people of determination discover their talents, develop practical life skills and build meaningful connections through art. With a welcoming studio, a community café and programmes designed to encourage independence, Mawaheb has become one of Dubai’s most uplifting spaces.
Named after the Arabic word for “talents”, Mawaheb was founded in 2010 to fill a gap many families face once formal education comes to an end for people of determination. Instead of seeing that milestone as the end of the journey, the studio offers adults aged 18 to 62 a place where learning, creativity and personal growth continue.
Where creativity meets everyday life
Art sits at the heart of everything Mawaheb does, but the experience goes far beyond the canvas. Students explore painting, sculpture, photography, video art and mixed-media projects while being encouraged to develop their own artistic style.

Every programme is tailored to the individual. Some students focus on classical painting techniques, while others experiment with movement, colour and different forms of creative expression. Their artwork regularly features in exhibitions across the UAE and has even travelled internationally, allowing students to showcase their work to wider audiences.
Learning skills that last a lifetime
Alongside art classes, Mawaheb places equal importance on preparing students for everyday life. The organisation combines creative learning with life skills and vocational training, helping students become more confident and independent.
Lessons cover everything from using public transport and building healthy routines to making friends and developing communication skills. Students also take part in short internships and volunteering opportunities, allowing them to practise these skills in real-world settings. Over the years, graduates have gone on to become professional artists, motivational speakers and hospitality professionals working in hotels across Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
A café that brings the community together
Next door, Mawaheb Café extends the experience beyond the studio walls. The bright, welcoming space doubles as a café, gallery and community hub where visitors can enjoy coffee, work remotely or attend workshops surrounded by artwork created by the students.

The café also creates opportunities for meaningful conversations between visitors and the artists, helping raise awareness while breaking down barriers in a relaxed and inclusive environment.
A place where everyone belongs
What makes Mawaheb truly special is its sense of community. Students, teachers, volunteers and visitors all play a part in creating an environment where everyone feels valued and supported.
Whether through a painting, a public speech or a first day volunteering, every achievement is treated as a step towards greater confidence and independence. For families, volunteers and anyone looking to experience a different side of Dubai’s creative community, Mawaheb is a reminder that art has the power to connect people, create opportunities and help every individual find their own voice.
