Churches in Dubai have declared that in-person services are to be suspended, effective from today, 3rd April, after instructions were given out by UAE authorities over concerns about public safety and wellbeing.
Churches across the city have issued various updates in compliance with the new directive, and quite a few have shifted to virtual worship.
Regular visitors to Dubai churches have been advised to avoid in-person visits until further notice.
Which Churches in Dubai Have Confirmed Closure?
Various churches have announced suspension of in-person services as per the safety measures given.
Among these is Saint Mina Coptic Orthodox Church in Jebel Ali, which announced the suspension of on-site service, along with the cancellation of the scheduled liturgy on 3rd April.

St. Thomas Orthodox Cathedral on Oud Metha Road announced on their Facebook page that all worship and services in their parish will be conducted exclusively online. Members should attend all services, including Good Friday service, online, with unchanged timings.
Saint Francis Of Assisi Catholic Church, Jebel Ali is also closed, with all masses cancelled, however, there is no online streaming available.
St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Oud Metha Road has announced that the premises will be closed until further updates, whilst only the Good Friday service at 6 pm on 3rd April will be live streamed online on the church’s YouTube channel.
The suspensions have been made during Holy Week celebrations, which make up the holiest week of the liturgical year for most Christians.
However, Church authorities have encouraged members to cooperate with the suspension rules and avoid visiting church premises until official instructions and permissions are announced.
