This shift follows guidance from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which allowed a temporary extension of distance learning. For many in Dubai, it has translated into a smoother, more adaptable start to the term.
Study continues beyond the classroom
At Heriot-Watt University Dubai, classes, assessments, and student services have moved fully online for the initial weeks of the term. What stands out is the introduction of temporary relocation options, allowing students and faculty who are travelling or currently abroad to continue without interruption.
Other universities across Dubai are taking a similar approach. Hybrid learning models balance flexibility and structure, ensuring that students remain academically aligned.

Importantly, there is no strict requirement for students or faculty to return to Dubai immediately while remote learning is in place. This has made it easier for international students and those travelling during the break to transition back into their routines without added pressure.
