Distance Learning to Continue in the UAE for another two weeks

Students across the United Arab Emirates will have another two weeks of distance learning at the beginning of the third academic term, in light of the ongoing regional tensions.

The Education, Human Development, and Community Development Council announced the continuation of distance learning across schools and higher education institutions. The update was posted on the social media platform X by the UAE Government Media Office.

UAE Schools Extend Distance Learning for 2 Weeks

Who Does This Apply To?

The update applies to all private and public schools across the country, as well as nurseries and kindergartens. The UAE Media Office will continue to monitor the situation weekly in coordination with the Ministry of Education.

Flexible virtual work arrangements will be available to federal government employees who are also primary caregivers.

Higher education institutions may establish a workflow for students, administrators, and teaching staff that ensures continuity and quality in the educational process.

Private educational institutions, whether higher education institutions, nurseries, or schools, may submit requests to continue in-person classes if necessary. Requests will be agreed to only after a thorough assessment of the current situation.

What This Means For Parents?

Federal government employees who are parents and need to remain at home to care for one or more children, particularly younger ones, may be eligible for work-from-home allowances.

However, the official declaration from the council stated that remote work would apply during the period when students from kindergarten to Grade 8, and those in nurseries, are distance learning.

As distance learning continues beyond the spring break, settling into a sustainable routine at home is more important than ever.

Creating structure, staying connected and managing screen time can make the transition smoother for both students and parents. With a few simple adjustments, remote learning and working from home can feel far more manageable in the weeks ahead.
