UAE 2026 Exam Cancellations: Schools Announce Alternative Assessment Measures

UAE 2026 exam cancellations have been confirmed for several major international curricula, affecting students across Dubai and the wider UAE.

Schools and exam boards are now implementing alternative assessment measures for the affected academic session.

Exam Boards Confirm Cancellations

Cambridge International has confirmed that its June 2026 series of IGCSE, O Level, AS & A Level, and IPQ exams will not be held in the UAE, and schools will use alternative methods to assess student performance.

Pearson Edexcel has also announced the cancellation of International GCSE, International A Level, and iPLS exams in the UAE for May/June 2026.

Similarly, OxfordAQA confirmed that its IGCSE and A Level exams scheduled in the UAE will not go ahead as planned.

IB Exams Transition to Alternative Assessment

For students in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma and Career‑related Programmes, final exams for the May 2026 session have been cancelled.

Students’ grades will instead be determined through internal assessments, coursework, and teacher-predicted grades.

What Students and Parents Should Know

Schools and education authorities are providing guidance to ensure a smooth assessment process.

Students and parents are encouraged to follow official school channels for updates on how results will be calculated and communicated.

Alternative assessment measures aim to maintain fairness and ensure students’ academic progression, with grades recognised for university admissions and certification.
