HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, ruler of Dubai, has asked residents to raise the UAE flag above their homes.
He emphasised that the flag symbolises the unity of all residents as a nation and the strength and resilience of the community during challenging times amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
Call to Action for UAE Residents
In a post shared on social media, the ruler of Dubai gave a call to action to all citizens, stating:
“The United Arab Emirates entered the recent crisis united, and emerged from it even more united, cohesive and loyal. Citizens and residents, young and old, military and civilians, government and economic sectors, all united under the banner of the state, its flag and the symbol of its unity.”
Describing the UAE flag as a symbol of strength and pride, he called upon citizens to raise it above their homes, institutions, and buildings, expressing further appreciation and pride in the armed forces, the president, and the economy.

How to Raise the UAE Flag Yourself
If raising the flag on a flagpole, ensure you follow the steps below:
- Raise the flag steadily, without hurry, till the top of the pole and then secure it in place.
- Ensure the positioning is correct.
- If you are part of an institute or society hoisting the flag, stand still to show respect until the flag has been raised.
A correct display is crucial. Horizontally, the red stripe should always be on the left (closest to the pole), while the green stripe must be at the top. An observer must see the green stripe on their right-hand side.
Importantly, avoid raising an old, worn-out, unclean or torn flag. Ensure it is well-ironed and in perfect condition before presentation, and display it in a location with ample space to fly freely without obstructions. The flag should not be anywhere near the ground.
