New Dubai Emergency Alert Guide: What You Should Know

The Government of Dubai Media Office has rolled out a new Dubai emergency alert guide to inform residents and visitors in the emirate of what to do if they receive such an alert.

The safety guide presents possible situations ran emergency will be received. Such alerts have been regular occurrences, sent out by the UAE’s Ministry of Interior to urge everyone in the city to stay safe amidst regional tensions at present.

The safety guide has been issued by the Dubai Media Office in collaboration with NCEMA and the Dubai Resilience Centre. It is available in seven languages: English, Arabic, Russian, Tagalog, Mandarin, Hindi and Urdu.

It reminds the public that Dubai remains safe and fully operational. However, precautionary guidance will help facilitate a calm, safe response if anything does go wrong.

While residents are encouraged to thoroughly read the safety guide and can visit the official website of the Dubai Media Office for more details, the following information is useful to always keep in mind:

What To Do If You Are Indoors

If you receive an MOI alert when you are inside a building, such as your home, your office, or a public place like a mall, the following should be adhered to immediately:

  • Step away from balconies and windows
  • Move to an interior space
  • Listen for any building announcements or security instructions
  • Avoid elevators unless instructed
  • Stay away from glass partitions or surfaces
  • Stay in place until you receive an ‘all clear’ MOI notification
  • Resume normal activity calmly

What To Do If You Are Outdoors

If you receive an alert while outdoors, follow the instructions below:

  • Move indoors as soon as possible and enter the nearest building
  • If driving, park safely, exit the vehicle and take cover in a safe location
  • Avoid open spaces, especially balconies or windows
  • Avoid proximity to external walls or glass panels

In both cases, it is important to rely only on verified information and avoid sharing unconfirmed messages, audio, or videos, as these can quickly lead to unnecessary confusion or concern.

The guidance also emphasises staying calm. Keeping a clear head allows residents to respond appropriately and follow any official instructions as they are issued.
