Dubai is expected to witness heavy rainfall, along with other regions of the UAE, throughout this week. According to updates from the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), until Friday, 27th March, partly to fully cloudy weather is expected.
In addition to heavy rain, light to moderate winds, along with the clouds, will most likely lead to dusty conditions, which will, in turn, reduce horizontal visibility.
Safety Guidelines Issued for UAE Residents
On their X (formerly Twitter) account, the National Centre of Meteorology has instructed the public to stay safe and adhere to the following safety guidelines amid weather conditions that have been rough over the past weekend as well.
The guidelines are as follows:
- Take precautions when driving during rainfall
- Stay away from areas of flash floods and accumulative rain
- Avoid open or elevated areas during lightning and thunder
- Stay alert for downdraft winds, as these cause loose objects and decrease horizontal visibility
For those who drive frequently, the following precautions in the rain are a must:
- Avoid driving unless absolutely necessary
- Drive with caution and remain vigilant and alert to ensure the safety of other road users
- If visibility is low, switch on low-beam headlights
- Follow weather forecasts via official channels and remain ready to comply with any instructions from relevant authorities
Most importantly, the NCM urged residents to refer to the official authority reports for crucial weather updates and to avoid spreading rumours.
