Hajj 2026 is set to take place in late May to early June this year. Despite the ongoing concerns around safety and travel uncertainty in the region, millions of Muslims around the globe are still expected to undertake the annual pilgrimage to Mecca, one of the most prominent and largest religious gatherings in the world.
Hajj, the fifth pillar of Islam, is a journey every physically and financially capable Muslim is obliged to undertake at least once in their life, symbolising a transformative experience before God and a connection with other Muslims regardless of nationality, status, or language.
Hajj 2026 for UAE Pilgrims
The UAE’s Islamic Affairs authority approved 6,228 Emirati citizens to perform the Hajj 2026 pilgrimage (1447 AH) this year.

The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department is responsible for all Hajj and Umrah affairs in Dubai, including coordinating and communicating with campaign offices and implementing yearly plans and programmes for the Hajj mission.
Residents are advised to stay up to date with the authorities on any changes to plans, travel options, and timings, given the ongoing regional situation.
The Department emphasises that UAE citizens must take certain health precautions before leaving for Hajj, including obtaining the required vaccinations at health service centres.
As vaccinations often take at least 2 weeks to take effect, residents who have registered for the pilgrimage must get vaccinated as early as possible.
Things to Keep in Mind for Hajj 2026
Considering that the pilgrimage of Hajj 2026 may not be the same as previous years, with the current situation in the region, residents should take extra care of the following:
- Carry all essential medications, practical footwear, appropriate clothing, unscented toiletries as per customs, and important documents, which will be necessary during times when travel can be delayed or uncertain.
- If you have already taken a travel package, make all necessary confirmations regarding accommodation, distance from the holy sites, transportation, costs and stay duration to avoid last-minute hassles
- Ensure you stay healthy and physically fit, as the pilgrimage may require you to walk for distances in high temperatures.
