Dubai’s Crown Prince Titles Housewives as ‘Generations Shapers’ on EID

In honor of Mother’s Day, which is celebrated in the UAE annually on 21st March, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, and the Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, recently called for the title of ‘housewife’, held by numerous women across the country, to be replaced with ‘Generations Shaper’.

The decision is a symbolic move to give a tribute to mothers for Mother’s Day for shaping up their children as individuals.

A Mother as the ‘First School’

In a post on the social media platform X, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed stated, “The mother is the first school, and it is she who makes the beginning, and draws the path, and instills in her children the meaning of belonging and responsibility, and the meaning of being worthy of their homeland’s trust.”

Wishing every mother good health, he added that the newly adopted title of ‘Generations Shaper’ offers women who are mothers and homemakers a much-needed appreciation for their indispensable role.

By being the first home for their children, homemakers (most often women) are integral to instilling certain values and habits in their children. More than careers or job titles, it is these values that go on to make a complete individual who then contributes to society in their own way.
