Dubai Police Volunteers Bad Weather: Officers Step in to Help Residents Across the City

When unstable weather brought heavy rain across parts of Dubai, teams of Dubai Police volunteers were among those on the ground, helping residents deal with the aftermath and supporting official response efforts.

According to Dubai Police, 49 volunteers from the “Your Neighbourhood Officer” initiative were deployed across several areas, working alongside authorities to maintain safety and assist communities affected by waterlogging.

On the Ground Where It Mattered Most

The volunteers were active across multiple neighbourhoods, including Al Qusais, Bur Dubai, Al Muraqqabat, Al Barsha and Al Rashidiya. Their role was practical and hands-on.

They monitored water accumulation, supported drainage efforts, and helped guide residents through affected areas.

Working in coordination with Dubai Municipality and other teams, they also monitored conditions across 77 locations impacted by rainwater buildup.

Helping Drivers and Recovering Vehicles

One of the biggest challenges during the weather was the number of vehicles affected by flooded roads. Volunteers assisted stranded motorists and helped recover around 30 vehicles from waterlogged areas.

They also collected lost vehicle number plates that had come loose during the rain. In total, 279 plates were recovered and returned through police stations, helping residents avoid additional inconvenience.

A Community-Led Effort

The initiative is part of Dubai Police’s broader community policing programme, designed to strengthen cooperation between residents and authorities.

Volunteers also played a role in raising awareness and encouraging people to follow safety precautions during unstable weather.

Officials from Dubai Police highlighted that such efforts not only support emergency teams but also help build stronger community connections.

Recognising Volunteer Contributions

Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Mansoori, Director of the General Department of Community Happiness, praised the volunteers for their commitment and willingness to assist during challenging conditions.

The recent response highlights how coordinated action between authorities and community volunteers can make a visible difference during sudden weather disruptions.

Residents interested in supporting their community can join the Dubai Police’s “Your Neighbourhood Officer” programme. Volunteers help during emergencies, assist residents, and work alongside officers to keep the city safe.
