7 Astounding Guinness World Records Held by Dubai

Dubai is often described as the ‘City of Gold’ or the ‘Jewel of the Desert’, known for its scale, ambition and larger-than-life experiences. It is a city that consistently pushes boundaries, whether through architecture, attractions, or world-first concepts.

That same drive has seen Dubai earn multiple Guinness World Records titles, cementing its reputation on a global stage.

Here are seven spectacular Guinness World Records set by Dubai:

1. The World’s Tallest Building

Perhaps the most iconic of Dubai’s record-breaking feats, the Burj Khalifa holds the title of the world’s tallest man-made structure.

Rising to 828 metres (2,717 feet), it stands nearly twice as tall as the Empire State Building and was officially recognised by Guinness World Records in 2024.

Beyond its height, it has secured several other titles, including the highest outdoor observation deck, the highest residential apartments, and the largest LED-illuminated façade, famously showcased during New Year’s Eve 2019.

Opened in 2010, the tower has become one of Dubai’s defining landmarks, instantly recognisable on the skyline. With 163 floors, it also holds the record for the most levels in a building, reinforcing its status as a true engineering marvel.

2. The World’s Highest Outdoor Infinity Pool

In 2021, Dubai broke the record for the world’s highest outdoor infinity pool in a building with the Address Beach Resort.

Situated on the resort’s rooftop on the 77th floor, at 293.9 metres high, the pool’s cerulean waters blend seamlessly with the sky.

From this vantage point, sweeping views stretch across some of Dubai’s most recognisable landmarks, including the Palm Jumeirah, The World Islands, the Dubai Marina coastline, and the iconic Burj Al Arab.

3. The World’s Deepest Indoor Swimming Pool

Deep Dive Dubai is home to one of the most unusual record-holders in the city, a purpose-built diving pool that reaches a depth of 60.02 metres (196 feet 10 inches), making it the deepest in the world. It earned its title from Guinness World Records in 2021.

Designed to resemble the ruins of a sunken city, the pool holds an impressive 14 million litres of freshwater. Divers can descend to depths of up to 60 metres, around 15 metres deeper and four times larger than any other diving pool globally, creating a truly immersive underwater experience.

4. The Longest Driverless Metro System

Another area where Dubai stands out is transport. The Dubai Metro Red Line holds the Guinness World Records title as the world’s longest automated metro line, stretching 52.1 kilometres across the city.

Together with the Dubai Metro Green Line, the network extends even further, with a combined length that surpasses systems such as the Vancouver SkyTrain.

5. The World’s Largest Picture Frame

Undoubtedly an architectural marvel of the emirate, the Dubai Frame holds the record for the largest building in the world in the shape of a frame. Located in the picturesque Zabeel Park, the structure is 150.23 metres tall and 95.53 metres wide.

The building offers an observation deck with panoramic views of both new and old Dubai.

6. The World’s Longest and Tallest Flower Displays

The vibrant Dubai Miracle Garden holds two Guinness World Records titles. The first is for the world’s largest floral structure, shaped like an Airbus A380. This impressive installation measures 72.95 metres by 78.34 metres by 21.98 metres.

The garden also set a second record with a floral display of Mickey Mouse, recognised as the world’s tallest topiary sculpture. Standing at 18.06 metres, it adds another standout feature to this already remarkable attraction.

The tallest hotel in the world is the Ciel Tower, at a height of 377.127 metres, and achieved the record in 2025. The hotel consists of 82 floors and 1,004 hotel rooms. A glass observation deck offers 360-degree views of the Dubai Marina, the Palm Jumeirah and the Arabian Gulf.

Interestingly, the previous record holder for this title was also a Dubai-based hotel: Gevora Hotel. With 75 stories, it was 356.33 metres above ground level.
