Dubai’s New 820-Metre Al Mamzar and Al Khawaneej Cycling Bridge Is Now Open

The Al Mamzar and Al Khawaneej cycling bridge is now open, giving residents and visitors a new way to explore more of Dubai on foot or by bike. Stretching 820 metres, the newly opened pedestrian and cycling bridge links Al Mamzar and Al Khawaneej through Al Nahda, making it easier to travel between popular residential communities and outdoor recreation areas without relying on a car.

Developed by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the bridge is the latest addition to the emirate’s growing network of walking and cycling infrastructure. Beyond improving connectivity, it supports Dubai’s long-term vision of making active travel a more practical part of everyday life.

Connecting some of Dubai’s most popular cycling routes

One of the biggest advantages of the new bridge is the way it strengthens Dubai’s expanding cycling network. It connects directly with the existing Al Khawaneej and Al Warqa cycling tracks, allowing cyclists to continue their journey all the way to Saih Al Salam along a continuous route.

For regular cyclists, this means longer rides without interruptions, while those who enjoy occasional weekend outings now have more opportunities to discover different parts of the city on dedicated cycling paths. Pedestrians will also benefit from a safer and more convenient route between the surrounding neighbourhoods.

The improved connectivity makes it easier for residents to enjoy outdoor activities while travelling between residential and recreational destinations in a more comfortable way.

Encouraging healthier and more sustainable travel

Dubai has continued to invest in expanding its cycling and pedestrian infrastructure over the past few years, introducing new tracks, bridges and walkways across the emirate. These projects are designed to encourage more people to choose walking and cycling for shorter journeys while creating safer spaces for outdoor exercise and recreation.

As the network grows, residents have greater flexibility to incorporate cycling or walking into their daily routines, whether for fitness, commuting or simply spending more time outdoors.

Another step towards a more connected Dubai

The new bridge forms part of the RTA’s wider strategy to promote sustainable mobility and reduce dependence on private vehicles. By expanding dedicated infrastructure for cyclists and pedestrians, Dubai is continuing to build a transport network that is both more connected and more environmentally sustainable.

While the bridge may seem like a simple addition, it plays an important role in linking existing routes and making active travel more accessible. For anyone who enjoys cycling, walking or exploring Dubai’s outdoor spaces, the new Al Mamzar and Al Khawaneej cycling bridge offers another reason to leave the car behind and experience the city from a different perspective.
