Dubai Catholic churches’ reopening is now complete, with two of the city’s largest Catholic churches announcing a return to normal operations after several months of temporary precautionary measures. St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oud Metha and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Jebel Ali have confirmed that parishioners can once again take part in all church activities following the latest directives from the authorities.
The reopening marks the end of restrictions introduced earlier this year, including age limits for weekend masses, mandatory online registration, and the suspension of outdoor activities within church premises.
St. Mary’s and St. Francis resume normal operations
St. Mary’s Catholic Church informed parishioners that the Community Development Authority had approved a 100 per cent reopening from July 1, 2026. The church added that an official announcement would follow.

St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church also confirmed that it is fully reopening and resuming all parish activities. In its announcement, the church welcomed families back and encouraged worshippers to continue showing respect, consideration, and care for one another while following any applicable guidelines.
With the latest update, parishioners can once again participate in regular services and church activities without the temporary attendance restrictions.
Temporary April restrictions have been lifted
The reopening brings an end to precautionary measures introduced in April to help manage attendance and prevent overcrowding. During that period, outdoor gatherings within church premises were suspended, and attendance at obligatory weekend masses was limited to adults aged 18 and above.
Parishioners were also required to register online before attending services, while children and unregistered visitors were not permitted to enter. Those unable to secure a place at their preferred mass were encouraged to follow the churches’ online livestreams.
With both churches now operating normally, parish life is returning to its regular schedule, allowing worshippers and their families to once again gather for services and community activities.
