Ajman Named the Safest City in the World, as Dubai Also Ranks Among the Global Top 10

The safest city in the world is the title Ajman has earned in the latest Numbeo Mid-Year 2026 Safety Index, placing the emirate at the top of the global rankings for public safety. The UAE also dominated the list, with Abu Dhabi ranking second, Ras Al Khaimah third, Sharjah fourth, and Dubai securing sixth place, highlighting the country’s continued focus on safety and quality of life.

Ajman achieved an impressive Safety Index score of 88, reflecting residents’ strong sense of security and the emirate’s low crime levels. The rankings are based on perception surveys that measure concerns around crime, theft, vandalism, physical safety, and how safe people feel walking alone during the day and at night.

Why is Ajman ranked first globally?

According to Ajman Police, the achievement is the result of years of investment in smart policing and community-focused security initiatives. The emirate has developed an integrated security system that combines artificial intelligence, predictive policing, big data analytics, and an extensive network of smart surveillance cameras to help identify risks before incidents occur.

Authorities have also introduced specialised initiatives, including tourist patrols, Aman patrols, building protection programmes, anti-drug operations, smart traffic enforcement, and AI-assisted monitoring systems. Together, these measures have helped maintain exceptionally low crime levels while strengthening residents’ confidence in public safety.

Dubai remains among the world’s safest cities

While Ajman claimed the top spot, Dubai ranked sixth globally, reinforcing its position as one of the safest major cities in the world. The city continues to invest in advanced policing technologies, smart surveillance, digital police services, and strict public safety measures that contribute to a strong sense of security for both residents and visitors.

The latest rankings demonstrate the UAE’s broader success in creating safe urban environments, with five emirates placing among the world’s safest cities. Beyond low crime rates, the index also reflects how secure people feel in their everyday lives, whether walking alone during the day, travelling at night, or going about their daily routines.

For residents, businesses, and tourists alike, the results further strengthen the UAE’s reputation as one of the world’s safest destinations to live, work, and visit.
