The UAE International Space Cooperation Programme was launched by HH Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum during a meeting of the Supreme Space Council, marking a major new investment in the country’s growing space sector.
The Dh1 billion programme aims to support research and development, strengthen international partnerships, localise advanced technologies, and create more opportunities for Emirati talent in space science and technology.
HH Sheikh Hamdan said the space sector remains a strategic priority for the UAE as the country continues to build a future economy driven by knowledge, innovation, and advanced industries.
Programme to support research and Emirati talent
According to Sheikh Hamdan, the new initiative will help expand the UAE’s role in global space research while also encouraging the growth of local expertise.

The programme is expected to support scientific projects, encourage collaboration with international partners, and help develop advanced technologies within the UAE. It also aims to prepare and empower young Emiratis to play a bigger role in shaping the future of the space industry.
HH Sheikh Hamdan said the UAE remains confident in its youth’s ability to turn ambition into achievements that benefit humanity on Earth and beyond.
UAE continues to expand its space ambitions
The launch of the programme comes as the UAE continues to build on its achievements in space exploration over recent years.
The country has gained international attention through projects such as the Emirates Mars Mission and astronaut missions, which have helped inspire young people across the UAE to pursue science and technology.
Officials say the new programme reflects the country’s long-term vision to strengthen innovation, diversify the economy, and position the UAE among the world’s leading nations in the space sector.
